    Now, to answer the question.

    Start making solid food and water available to the babies in low dishes when they're about 3-4 weeks. They probably won't start eating it, but it'll give them the chance to get used to it and test it out when they want to.

    They should start seriously eating solid food (as in more solid food than nursing) between 6 and 8 weeks. By 12 weeks, mom will probably have them almost completely, if not completely, weaned.
