    Missouri Tenant Law
My elderly mother has lived in her apartment for nearly 10 years. She's been month to month for most of that time. She's been an exceptional tenant, but her landlord has not been very good at making adequate repairs. Now my mother's wall in her bedroom is rotting out and full of termites and the landlord's repair people think they will have to rip out the entire wall and replace it--the reason the wall is in such bad shape is that the landlord was making his own repairs and never really fixed the problem. My mother is concerned that because she is month to month, the landlord will simply make her move. I need to know if the MO tenant laws protect tenants from landlords asking them to leave because they don't want to make repairs.

    Thanks for your help!

    Best,
    Danielle

Nope. I don't know of ANY tenant laws that require a landlord to keep renting on a month to month basis. The only requirement is giving adequate notice. You can find a link to state laws at the top of this forum if you want to double check.

No, a person on a month to month lease can be asked to move out with a 30 day notice for any reason ( as long as it is not a protected right, race, sex religion ect)

And honestly, perhaps she should move if things are this bad, it may not be a safe living condition
