Can an indirect hot water heater reduce hot water pressure in the shower?
Recently installed an indirect hot waer heater to replace the using the coil in the boiler to heat our water. Now, the shower hot water pressure is quite low.

Can the installation of an indirect hot water heater effect hot water pressure. We expected lots of hot water and better hot water pressure.

    It shouldn't.
How is the pressure elsewhere in the house?
    Did you install it?
Does it have a hot water check valve?
Or debris could have ended up in the shower head.

    Thanks for a reply!

No, we checked the shower head and we even cleaned it with vinegar and CLR.

The pressure in the house elsewhere is OK.

No, actually we had it installed.

Are we asking too much from an indirect hot water heater. Is the pressure for the hot water line usually lower with an indirect versus having a clean boiler coil. Last time we had our boiler coil celned in the boiler cleaned, the pressure was fabulous, but as time went on the pressure and the temperature started to get less.

We mnow feel that perhaps we shold have lcceln the col again or replaced it if needed, instead of installing the indirect hot water. Ehater

The pressure should be just as good as it was before and you should make the plumber come back on his own dime.

Yea, he came back and told us to check the hot water fixture (stem), but we figured that it would not be the cause of all that pressure loss.

It was installed on 3/30 and they came back the next day. I had to work on Friday, but they are coming back on Monday. I will have to take off or be off.

No sure of the check valve you are talking about.

We certainly figured that with a clean boiler coil and the pressure we had then, even though eventually (3 years later) it was dimished. We figures with a new indirect that the pressure would be even better or al least the kind we had with a clean coil.
