My MTD riding mower will ot turn over when cold 65 degs or less.
It's garage kept. It starts to turn over but then quits. If I warm it up by use of a heater or it sets in the sun it will then turn over and start just fine. The battery is new and fully charged. I have even tried to jump it when it's cold but it still does the same thing. It's as if it turns two turns to the compression stroke then quits. Again, as soon as it's warmed up it turns over just fine. I feel as if something in the electrical system might be breaking down when cold. Thanks in advance for any suggestions?

Not sure what engine it has, but it sounds like you need to adjust the valves. If it is a single cylinder Briggs you can watch a video to tell you how here:

Thanks for the reply, jsfocke. I believe you have "nailed it". I thought about the valves but wanted to get some opinions first. I'll adjust the valves this coming weekend and let you know if that fix's it. I'm sure that it will. Thanks again for all your help!

Did the valve adjustment help to get it started?
