I just received a new loan modification last week from my lender, but was served today with a summons by the county in which I live for for a mortgage foreclosure

The foreclosure was probably filed before the modification was approved. If the modification paid off the mortgage, then you just present that to the court. They can't foreclose on a loan that has been rewritten.
