I have an Aire-Flo gas furnace - model no. AF80MPA075B3A
I have an Aire-Flo gas furnace - model no. AF80MPA075B3A I rent - however I believe it was installed around 2003. For the last month - the furnace will start, the gas tries to ignite but after 2 seconds it will shut off. It tries to ignit 3 times - then if unseccessful the furnace shuts off. It periodically goes through this process and sometimes does come on for a period before shutting down again. Filter is new. We have been through the process of disconecting power and re-setting the furnace - which sometimes works... but is a pain to continuously do. There is a green light that blinks once - pauses then blink 6 times consecutively, however I can't find a "guide" anywhere on the furnace to tell me what this means. The landlady has yet to fix the problem. My question is - what does the blinking light combination mean and is there anything I can do to fix this on my own?

It is a good possibility that the flame sensor is dirty BUT since you rent and the repairs for the furnace are usually the owners responsibility I would not mess with the furnace since you could be accused of damaging it while you tried to fix it. Many years ago as a self employed HVAC service agent that also did work on apartment/condo complex units under contract I have seen this before. Play it safe and let the owner get the repairs done. If they refuse and it is still cold where you live then call a legitimate repair person for service, pay the person or company then deduct the repair amount from your rent payment. It is legal to do this in most states but you might want to check the tenant laws in your state. They are listed on line usually under your states web site or search box.
