When my ex and I went to court to have them determine how much child support I was to pay she asked for back child support even though I had been giving her more than the court decided was appropriate. Because I did not have my receipts with me for the money that I had given her so far she was awarded $5000 in arrears and received it in one lump sum. I have since obtained a copy of those receipts. Is there any way that I can get that money back? We live in the state of Nevada.

You would have to file suit against her for the return of the money. However, if you were paying voluntarily without a court order, the court may not consider that as support payments, but rather gifts. If so they would not be applied towards your arrears.
