    F-1 visa 1099-R?
    Hi,

    I am foreign student on F-1 and I was on OPT (optional training program) in 2010. I have received my W-2 and 1099-R. On the 1099-R form it it is reported the amount of federal tax that was withheld.
    My tax software tells me that I can't use 1040NR if I have 1099-R form. What form should I use then to report my taxes?

    The software is wrong.

    You CAN report IRA distributions on Line #16 of Form 1040NR, and pension distributions on Line #17 of Form 1040NR.
