    Do I have rights?
    {web reference removed}
    ========
    I was told, agreed and led to believe that my condo (I have been residing in for almost 5 years) deed was to be transferred into my name per a long business and friendship relationship the owner ({name removed}) has had with my father.It was never done properly. Not by any negligence on my part. (not to mention monies my father had invested in the bulk ownership of many condos in complex)Well.. the lovely friend of my father (not in ANY WAY related to my father) was found guilty of many federal charges by the SEC, FTC, FCC and so on.(major ponzi scheme involving millions!) A receivership was appointed to seize and liquidate all {the owner's} assets to recover the monies he had ripped off under another company he owned and they (receivership) r trying to evict me. Even after they just recently sold the 18 low budget no CO (certificate of occupancy) condo's including mine. I understand their position, however I haven't even had a day in court yet!? Do I have any rights? Should I pay the unpaid taxes currently due? All I have is 2 witness and e-mail confirmation on my ownership/residencey. I got the run around badly.({the owner}, realtor blah! Blah!)My father is unfortunately ill now and in Florida. He has provided me with some info. CAN U HELP PLEASE! This is my home and I don't know what to do!? I am struggling my *** off!

    Sorry, but it looks like gross negligence on your part (except that you are the one damaged by your neglect).

    Get an attorney post-haste to see if he/she can pull the fat out of the fire for you.

    Paying a substantial amount of money for real estate with nothing in writing (but an e-mail) in return, of course.

    Buying real estate is serious business. It is not for amateurs, and never to be done by a "handshake deal".

    In every state, agreements for the transfer of real estate have to be in writing in order to be enforceable.

    If you have anything in writing where the owner stated that they would transfer the property to you, including an email, and if you have some kind of proof that you were entitled to that transfer, such as proof that they owed you something or you did some kind of work for them, then you may have a case to force the transfer. Your chances of forcing the transfer become even better if you can show that you took action because you relied on the promise of that property transfer, such as spending large amounts of money and time on fixing up the property. However if the owner is involved in other legal disputes and is the focus of a criminal investigation then your chances will likely not improve.

    You should be able to get the court to put a hold on the eviction proceedings if you begin proceedings of your own to get ownership of the property. But it is highly unlikely that you can do any of these things without an attorney to represent you. I suggest that you get one immediately.

    Which? You are not sure? It makes a world of difference here.

    I honestly don't mean to needlessly hurt your feelings. But you appear to be way over your head here. As Lisa and I have been telling you, you absolutely need to get with a competent attorney in your area. As I gather from your opening post, you are in correspondence with "robertslegalfirm". I suggest that you meet with an attorney in person. Many attorneys offer cost-free initial consultations.

    Thank you and Lisa sooo very much. I have gotten a lot of "bad" costly legal advice unfortunately. Thus resorting to me having to get a legal aid attorney. However I am up against three big law firms that are quite intimidating! (naturally) they are threatening to take everything I own, physically move me out tomorrow, the appointed court date of eviction appearance. Or pay an outrageous amount for two weeks time to move. Like.. I can do both! The property has been sold/closed since my letter to vacate/evict. My apologies... I am "venting". I appreciate your input and time. I so wish I would have went to law school like my parents wanted! LOL! Again thanks!
