draft inducer starts to rev up, but then shuts down
Hi everyone, I've got a bit of a problem with my furnace. First and foremost the problem... furnace won't start automatically, so I switch the fan to "ON" let it power up, then switch back to "AUTO" wherein the draft inducer will start up, run for about 5 seconds, then shuts off
Now here's a little bit of history of the situation... I had some furnace trouble a while back when the furnace would shut down at random times, and I would either wake up or come home from work to a pretty cold house. Through much trial and tribulation (and an admittedly thick head) I realized that the heat limiter was being tripped because of my (don't laugh) dirty filter. Replaced it and, problem fixed! Well now it is a month later, with considerably warmer weather but its still cold out. I come home to a cold house, and think oh great the heat limiter again! Only this time, I can't get it to start back up for the life of me (the draft inducer was having the problem that I initially stated). I luckily got a hold of an HVAC repair man and he told me that I needed a new ignitor (electric glow ignitor) as I could smell gas after the inducer shut off signifying that gas was indeed being fed to the ignitor, and he was happy to sell one to me. Installed the ignitor and got the furnace working again. Came home from work today, and now I'm back to not being able to get the furnace going, as the draft inducer will not stay on long enough. Any ideas? Thank you so much in advance!
