I am 43 and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant. My cycles are usually 23-26 days. We did have unprotected sex on day 14 of this cycle. I am now on day 30 and no period. I did a pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. Could I be pregnant or am I going to have the period from hell?

You are 43 and I trust you have a good ob/gyn to guide you through this. I would suggest you visit your doctor and have a blood test to determine pregancy for sure. Please don't rely on drug store tests if you want to be quite certain and track your time accurately. Good luck and I wish you all the best if this is what you sincerely want. Pregnancy will be possible since you are having sex, but may I ask if the unprotected sex was only on day 14 of your cycle? Are you having frequent unprotected sex throughout your cycle?

While many women may ovulate on day 14, many others do not and focusing your attention on that one day will likely cause you to miss your ovulation. How long have you been trying to become pregnant? Have you determined when your most fertile time is likely to be?

I apologize for my bluntness, but at 43 you can not afford to miss out on every opportunity.

Give it another week and see if your period shows up late or not. If still no period, try another pregnancy test... making sure you follow the directions exactly.
