I looked in kelly blue book, but I can't seem to find anything for my situation. The car has not run in 5 years. I think what it needed was a timing belt adjustment, or a new timing belt... I'm not sure. It's a long story as to why I didn't get it fixed. My poor car... It is a Honda Civic VP. It is a 2000. It has 67K miles on it. It has two cig holes in the backseat (not from me), and could use a shampoo (would prob look super nice with a shampoo job), One of the a/c vents is cracked (hot Texas weather), no tinted windows, electric locks/cd player/no electric windows. I started it up several months ago after charging the battery, and it turned on. I'm by all means not a hoarder, but I feel like one because I can't seem to let it go! Can someone please shed some light here and help me out as to how much I should sell it for?
About 20 people have come by wanting to know how much, I don't have a price. I think it would probably cost more for me to fix it up for how much I could sell it for.

OH... It also has a couple of dents, and a bigger dent to where it makes it hard kind of hard to open the driver door. I have no idea how in the world that dent got there. It happened after I stopped driving it. My son plays bball in the driveway, but I really don't think his bball could have made that dent. That is one reason why it will prob cost more to repair than what I could sell it for I think.

I don't know what's a fair price--someone would really have to see it. You might want to reconsider selling it, since well-maintained Hondas can go at least 300,000 miles. It might cost very little to get 200,000+ more miles out of it. Just a thought.

Could I ask a mechanic to help me decide how much I could sell it for... I mean is that something a mechanic would do and how much should I expect to pay him to give me that advice? You're right about reconsidering selling it.. that is why I have been so iffy about selling it because I know it's really a good car. It's just that one dent I'm not sure how expensive it would be. It's right in front of the hinge part of the door and you can only open the door halfway and it makes a sort of loud sound when you open it... UGH! I don't know what to doooo!

Most body shops would fix the door's dent, so you could easily open it, for a nominal fee. Personally, I'd keep it and get it in great running shape. It could even be your son's first car, in the future.

Yes my son is actually 16 now! His dad took a look at the car and he thinks for my son he should get him another one ( I think he doesn't want to deal with the repair and stuff), but it would be a perfect first car for teens. It is rather small car and my son is 6'2", that may be another reason for him thinking he needs a different car. So, hey if he wants to buy him one go for it right! but I could still keep it for myself. I may talk to his dad again and see if we can maybe work something out to get it repaired. He may be able to get it repaired cheaper than what he would pay to buy him a new used car. It was the first car I purchased and paid for on my own and I know it's a good car, so I'm really not ready to get rid of it. Thanks for your input!
