I have an ACER Aspire 5517 notebook. It has 2 USB ports and one VGA port. My DVR hooked to my TV has a USB port in the front, and 2 in the back of it. It also has a HDMI port on the DVR. Can you tell me if I can hook the 2 of them up, and with what type of cable? Also, is there anything special I need to do in addition to see my computer screen on my TV?

If your only purpose is to view your computer screen on your TV, then the best way would be to to get a VGA to TV converter. Lots of DVRs have USB ports, but they are unused. You would have to contact the DVR maker or cable provider to see if they are used on your equipment.
