All modern (and not so modern) operating systems have ATA drivers built into the operating system. A driver for the hard drive itself is not required. If the drive isn't recognized, you may need a driver for your motherboard or the storage controller the drive is connected to.

What happens when you plug in the drive and boot up the system?
First, answer NeedKarma's question. Then, enter the BIOS setup program and verify the drive is configured correctly. Last, post detailed info on what type of computer you are using and what you are attempting to do.Quote:

I'm using a Packard Bell iMedia 2255. AMD athlon 2200+ (1,79 Ghz), 1Gb RAM (was 256Kb), HDD 4O Gb 72OO rpm ATA, ATI Radeon videocard (128Mb), Windows XP SP2
Ussualy I can see the hard disks that are connected my my PC and there's place for a slave but if connect it, the it doesn't find neither of my hdds.
