The material inside tampons, cotton batting, may cause a problem in his intestines. 'Several" is enough to do some damage. I think you had better take him to the vet.

If he ate one, I would say it might not be an issue. People feed their dogs cotton after they have eaten cooked bones to cushion the stomach lining. But several could certainly be cause for concern. I will echo Lucky's advice here and contact your vet and follow their instructions.
