Hi I was wanting to make my own bird toys and I was wondering is it safe to use just regular food dry for the super market?

Yes food dye is safe. I know a lady who makes all her own toys out of things like popsicle sticks colored with food dye. The great thing is they are cheap and if they get dirty you can just throw them out and make new ones.

Plastic bottle tops are great as well, just punch a hole in the center and thread them onto some string.

Gnarly old branches are a favorite too, I hate those smooth bars they sell in pet stores, natural branches are much easier for their feet to grab onto.
