    Skinny Rottweiler
I have a rottweiler that is about 2 years old, no-matter what I feed him he does seem to put on weight. Is there anything I can feed him to bulk he up.

Do his ribs show? If so, take him to the vet, he could have a tape worm or something. It is highly unusual for a healthy dog not to eat all it needs. This is a common question. It is covered in the sticky at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post254171

It is more typical of a Shepherd than a Rottweiler, but some dogs refuse to eat more than enough to keep themselves lean. If he will eat more than you are feeding him, you could try feeding a little more, but don't over do it. You still want to be able to feel his ribs as illustrated in the link in the sticky.

You might read up on Rottweilers. American Kennel Club - akc.org is a good starting place for many dog topics, more reliable than many other sites. I know some lines of Labs are slender and thin, and perhaps Rotts too. Peggy came to me at 7 months with her ribs showing. A couple of months of 7 cups a day of Pro Plan fixed that, but she was still a tall slender dog. At a year old, both her and Lola were a lean 70 pounds. Lola had the typical show looks and only came up to Peggy's shoulder. Maybe I need to dig up a picture of them, scan it and put it up on the web.

Lean is healthy. You may be comparing him to overweight Rottweilers. Lean dogs live longer, and more active in later years, and have fewer joint problems.

I have to agree with the labman.
There are different size rotts to some are of german breed and some are of a amrican breed.I have had good luck with billy jacks,it is kind of high but does the trick.I would also have the vet check for worms.hope this helped

Good thinking on checking for worms. There certainly could be a medical reason why he's not gaining weight.

And unless you have seen the parents, you don't really know how bulky he should be. There is a HUGE difference between what you will see in a show ring and mongo humoungous rotties some people breed (including height).

Rotweilers need exercise but not a lot or they can become very skinny you should spend more time with him to make sure he is eating! He could possibly not like his food so you should think about changing it! ;) :) :D these are dog food that you shouldn't buy: at a boy, kibbels 'n 'bits are bad dog food brands! Hope you take my advise!
