What is stopping my tub from draining?!
I removed the metal stopper thing (cylinder) through the overflow. Still , the not going down. So I shoved a coat hanger straight down and it drained... so I left it in that position. Well come to find out , it only drained because I pierced a hole in the old pipe. So we slowly pulled it up, enough to tape the hole. Turned the water on... now it won't drain! So where is it stopping?? Help

You have to replace that drain... if a coathanger poked a hole in it... its badly corroded inside.

You will have to use a snake... or drain auger.

Do you really thing there is just a clog in there ? Only because it wouldn't drainonce and we noticed when we opened the over flow, the metal thing came unattached. So I thought it was that again, but when I took it apart, it was corroted at the top and I pulled up the whole thing... which is brass. Prob 40 yrs old. And the water still didn't budge that was in the tub. Until I shoved the coat hanger down... and then through the pipe. :( its just weird. It fills up kind of fast so I thought the cylinder had a cover on it that was jammed. But no

Something is plugged up. It might be in the P-trap under the tub drain... it might be some point beyond that.
