    Federal Jointly but separate States?
    My husband and I would like to file jointly for federal but no sure how to file for states when he worked in Michigan and I in Illinois.

    What state(s) do you each live in? Is one of you commuting between sates every day to go to work?

    In 2010, we had separate residences.. he lived and worked in in Michigan while I lived and worked in Illinois.
