What do I need to do to add myself on a house that my wife owns? What type of deed would that be?

YOU can't add yourself to it. SHE has to add you to it because right now she owns it.

Is there a mortgage? Is your name on the mortgage, did she own this before you married? Does she want to add your name to it if she did?

You can not "add" yourself, your wife will have to want to add you and do a new deed to be filed including you. She is not required to add you. Also is there a mortgage, if so, she will have to get their permission to add you.
