I have a gas water heater and the pilot light keeps going out. It has an electric igniter, and when I click on it - it sparks. What could the problem be?

" I click on it " is this a piezo ignitor? Maverick BL-02 Piezo Igniter one that gets a single push to generate a spark or does it go click, click, click for as long as you hold it in?

Need more info. Does it stay lite for a while? What is the model number? There are a lot of different styles and it could be any number of problems.
