I could tell you horror stories about tongue piercings. Chipped rotten teeth, multiple infections, some going all the way into the tongue and down the throat.

Oral problems for years to come in the way of fillings repairs and root canals.

And you are only a kid now.

You can't convince her. When you are self supporting and out of her house, then you can do as you wish.

Why don't you give us some examples of how mature you are (including your grades in school, household chores, that type of thing)?

You may think you're mature enough, but it's very likely that you're not. I wanted my tongue pierced when I was 13, I asked my parents and they said no. I respected their decision. When I turned 15 I asked again and they gave me a few goals to accomplish before I could get it done; house work, get a part-time job, get a B average at school, prove to them I have thought about the consequences (school) and become a responsible young adult. I did everything they asked and a few months before my sixteenth birthday they let me get it done. Ask them, if they say no then you respect that decision. When you're perhaps 15 or 16 ask them again and show them that you have thought about the pro's and con's, consequences and can pay for it with your own money. Why do you want it done so badly at 13? Trends like body piercings don't go out of fashion, nothing will have changed in 2 years waiting..

Why do you want your tongue pierced? In my opinion there is only one reason for a tongue piercing and at 13 you have no business needing that reason.

I'm working on rewarding kids for maintaining a B average. Amazing to me.
