My brother and his girlfriend want to sign over rights
My brother and his girl friend want to sign over rights to their child to my wife and myself. They say they can do this at the hospital before the child is born. I would be more then happy to be the parent but I'm worried that after they sign off they may want the child back later on in life. My question is that after signing over rights at the hospital would they have the right to get this child back? Also would the grandparents later in life have any rights?

Jeese... another post that treats kids like a used car Aunt Edna doesn't want.

Parental rights AREN'T signed over like an old car title.

COURTS have to do it. THey can't be "given up" or "signed over".

What we are really talking about here is adoption. Hire a lawyer and make it legal. Tie all the loose ends now and proceed. That is the only way the courts are going to accept it and for you to have exclusive legal rights to the child.
