I can give a basic answer here that has nothing to do with adult sexuality.

In some opinions and traditions (like mine) the man is the owner, the wife the manager, and the children the employees. The man makes the decisions, and the mother carries them out.

In other family dynamics, it is an equal partnership.
And in others, the woman is the boss, and the man is the manager.

There is no set law as to who has what role. It is different for everyone.
