I have studied in the U.S. for five years. Do I still need to file 8843 form?
Hi, I studied in the U.S. in year 2003 as an exchange student in high school on J-1 visa.
I have been studying on F-1 visa at university since 2007.
    My question is,

1)Do I have to file Form 8843 for all those years including 2003 when I was in high school?
2)I think my status has changed from nonresident alien to resident alien in 2010 as I have studied more than 5 years in total in the U.S. Do I have to file the form for year 2010? Thank you for your help in advance.

For 2010 you will file resident return.
Do you have to file 8843 depends upon which tax return did you file in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006... 2009?

I see. I filed non-resident tax return only in 2007. I made some income in year 2009,2010 but the amount was so small that I didn't file my return. I'm going to work as H-B later this year. Do I have to file 8843 for 2003,2007,2008,2009? Thanks!
