    Evicting a houseguest Michigan?
What is the legal way to evict a roommate in Michigan? Can the homeowner give a verbal 3 day notice to be out?The house guest has been living there for about 8months.

At eight months he's legally a resident... guest status usually ends before the first month is up.

THat notice is a properly served 30 days. Its important to have it served properly or they can game you for a lot longer.

    Hello a:

You need to give him a 30 day WRITTEN notice. You can do it on toilet paper, as long as it's WRITTEN.

As smoothy said, this is no longer a house guest, they have achieved resident status and have to be treated like a regular tenant.

Now if there was an agreement to pay rent and they have not paid, then you can give a pay or quit notice. Otherwise they are considered a periodic tenant and you need to give them written notice to vacate of 30 days. If they still have not left within that deadline, then you go to court for an eviction order.
