Positive one day, negative the next?
At 7 days ate I had a positive HPT. Very very faint line. I have never been able to get a positive test before a couple months so I was over the moon. Then today, at 8 days late, I tested again. This time two different brands, hoping on a stronger line. However the First Response came back negative and the same one as yesterday looks even fainter.

What's going on? I have never been late on a period. Not even a day.

Did you take both with first morning urine and did you read both within the specified time limit?

Yes I did use first morning urine with both today and used the same sample for both. Yesterday I used 2nd morning urine, so obviously not as concentrated. I'm going out to get a couple different tests. It's just confusing me that one is very very faint, and the other you can't see anything. Obviously the more expensive one is the one you can't see.

Its time to go to the doctor for a blood test rather than a stick test. And make sure to ask for a blood test or you could get just another stick test (im a phleb, that's how we do urine tests at the lab though not all are the same)

If it comes back negative can I request to go back the next day or two days later to have it redone (to see if hCG increased)? Last time my first couple blood tests were negative too, but they never compared numbers.

You don't do them every day or two. If you get a negative, wait one more week, and then test again

AT seven days late any test that you would buy from a drug store would be positive because the horomone in your urine would be very detectable at this point. I am currently two months pregnant and when I took tests not one came back negative and I was late by about three days. I suggest taking first response digital because those are very accurate and detect early hpt in urine by 4 days before your missed period. BUT to be sure, get a blood test from your doctor.

Hmm, mine never came back positive until 12 weeks gestation. With all 4 of my children I had to have a blood test for early confirmation.

Thank you everyone. During my last pregnancy I never tested positive until 5 months. Turns out I was pregnant but ended up having an early miscarriage this time. Which is why I was testing positive and then negative. Heartbreaking, but we can't do anything about it.
