    Indian residency through marriage
I'm a Sri Lankan Citizen and an Australian Resident. I'm married to a citizen of India (who is a permanent resident of Australia now). I would like to obtain residency status in India (thru marrriage). What's the procedure and how long do I have to wait before applying. I got married in India in 2007.

You can start the process as soon as you're legally married but since you are not living in India, I assume, it would not be a good idea because India does not recognize dual citizenship. So you will have to renounce Sri Lankan Citizen first.

If you both live in Australia, pursuing Australian PR status would benefit you more.
