    Leaky roof on apt
    I live in an private owned apartment and last thursday 3/10.2011.when it rained all day i came home to find my bed soaked from the ceiling leaking water all my stuff was damanged and i haven't been able to stay in my apt. this is the second leak from this apt and the landlord hasn't done anything and i am out of somewhere to stay, i want to know if i could sue her for this matter?

    First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread. Also, please don't shout (all caps) at us.

    Yes, If you can prove that the landlord was aware of the leaky roof and did nothing about it, then you have a cause of action to sue for damages and expenses. Your renter's insurance, however, should cover you so it would be the insurance company that sues the landlord to recover. Don't have renter's insurance? Very Foolish! That means you will have to sue yourself and hope to win and then have to try to collect.
