I am going through a messy divorce in CA. Wife is very unreasonable about everything. I have 50% joint custody of two children and there are currently no issues with timeshare. I have health insurance through work. But when I first won joint custody through FCS mediation and a hearing, the California family law judge, pushed by wife, ordered co-parenting counseling and said basically to use insured counselors as first choice, but if couple can't agree, use 'the following court approved private counselors'. Wife refuses to see counselors from my plan as she states they are not trained in co-parenting counseling, which is just a control ploy. And am now representing myself as I can no longer afford counsel. I cannot afford a private therapist and do not feel it will be fruitful.
I think she might attempt a contempt motion. What can the court do to enforce this ruling? What remedy might I have? What particular risk am in by not complying? Thanks in advance.

1 the judge ordered counseling,"to use insured counselors as first choice, but if couple can't agree, use 'the following court approved private counselors'.Thus if your wife does not agree to have insured counselors you have to have court approved private ones.

If you do not comply you may lose your custody rights.
