Maytag Freezer Model No MQU2057AEW Drain Tube
The drain tube in the above mentioned freezer is not working properly. It freezes up and the two service people that I had called in to correct the problem never corrected it - They just told me to remove the plate by removing the shelf and basket and then unscrewing the 4 screws that hold the plate and then pouring hot water down the drain hole. It is very difficult for me to get on my hands and knees at 79 years of age to perform this function plus using a hammer to dispose of the ice that accumulates at the bottom of the basket. Is there any solution to this problem. I really do not want to pay for another service call to be told to pour hot water down the drain. Thank you for your help.

There is a heater element that has burned out that keeps the drain above freezing. In order to fix this you will need to have someone replace this drain heater. This is not a job you can do yourself unless you have the tools and training, although it is a very easy job to do. DrTom4444
