I smoked w my 12 year old dog in the room,
And had to put him dwn due to a brain tumor or liver tumor. After putting him dwn I 've always wondered if it was because I smoked w him around or if it was just old age. That was 4 years ago, and have quit. I actually started smoking a lot more after my dog was gone.Did the 2nd hand smoke bring on his illness or was it just old age?

12 years is a good age for a dog. What breed? Lots of breeds are prone to cancers and tumors and such.

While second hand smoke isn't good for anyone, I doubt it was what cause your dogs death.

I agree, it's unlikely that it caused you dogs death.

For it to have a real effect on the dog you would have the be exposing it to a lot of smoke, small rooms and chain smoking for years.

It can cause things like asthma in dogs easily enough but that doesn't kill them.

    Hello need:

It was old age. Look. You'll NEVER know, so you can continue to beat yourself up about it, or you can move on. You DID quit, and that's a hell of an accomplishment.

I understand you wanting to know if you caused the cancer, that is human nature. The knowledge if you did or did not will not change the fact that your dog is on the rainbow bridge waiting for you.

Grats on quitting. Please don't keep worrying and thinking on this aspect. Cherish the memories you have of your dog.
