    Thermostat will not go below 60 when setting temperature for 55 degrees while trying to lower temperature.

    If the equipment is running and trying to cool the whole time you have a problem with the cooling side of the system, not the thermostat.

    Is the thermostat designed not to go below 60 degrees or is there a setting or way that it will go below 60 degrees?

    Unit apparently defective as exchanged and new one working fine.
