There is someway that you may have crossed the water pipes.
Leymetellu... thanks for the reply. Original bath wasn't changed and I do get initial hot water that goes lukewarm after a few minutes. I suspect my water heater is giving up the ghost (dip tube problem?). I did discover that hot water goes luke warm all over house. Tia
I agree if you are having that problem all over then more than likely it is the dip tube... Do you know how to put in a new dip tube.?
The dip tub's located directly under the cold water inlet of the heater. It just sets on a flange and if it's fallen in there's njot much you can do except to replace the dip tube and keep on flushing your heater on a monthly basis to get the crud out. Good luck, Tom
Thanks for the info... I figured the dip tube is the problem, but if I'm going to have to cut the old water heater lose, I might as well put a whole new heater back in... existing is 12 years old and there is about a 4 inch pile of rust below the burner. I can sweat copper so install shouldn't be a big deal.
