No. Actually you are NEVER safe from pregnancy if you are having sex. Birth control lowers the chances, but is not always 100% effective. You can still get pregnant on the pill.

To answer your original question though, you need to be on BC for a full month before engaging in unprotected sex.

OK, as a firm believer and user of birth control it is 99.8% effective against pregnancy if taken correctly. The only people who get pregnant while on the pill is women who don't take there pills at the same time everyday. And its defiantly a week not a month when you can safely have sex.

Incorrect. I am a labor and delivery nurse. I knew to take my pills correctly. I was on the pill, AND used a condom and got pregnant not once... but TWICE. I was also rendered streile from chemotherapy 14 years ago and have a 9 year old son.

I deliver babies to women who use the pill, condoms, even a gal that I work with got pregnant on the depo shot 2 years ago, got the Mirena after that birth and is pregnant again.

I also know of women who have gotten pregnant after having a tubal ligation (BTL) as well as women whose husbands have had a vascetomy.

Bottom line is that there are only two forms of birth control that work 100% of the time. That is abstinence and total abdominal hysterctomy.

I'm sorry, but offsite contact is not allowed at this site. You can, however, continue to ask your questions here. If I don't respond right away I'm either sleeping (I work nights) or I'm busy delivering a baby.

There are other gals on this site who are extremely helpful as well. They may respond if I am unable to.

Ahm, can I ask you again mam? My girlfriend was still worried about this problem, she' s asking me if she could still get pregnant though she taking because pills everyday, tomorrow will be her 8th days of preventing! I've read here too that sperm stay long only for 5days, she started to take pill the nextday after we had unprotected sex, so just only a day had past! We don't sex anymore after that day till now... was she safe?

It is still possible that she is pregnant. Chances are slim, but still possible.

I also want to mention that certain antibiotics render the pill completely inactive. So, if she takes these antibiotics, it's as if she is not on the pill at all.

In the end, if you are not ready to be a father, do not engage in intercourse. Children are very expensive and a life long responsibility.

May I ask how old the two of you are?

Of course standard birth control pills ( not the morning after) do nothing for events before you take them, Also depending on the brand, you have to take them for a few weeks or a month for them to be effective.

And as noted they are not 100 percent even if taken properly

No, it's not "eggcells." The eggs are microscopic, you cannot see them with the naked eye. Most likely what it is is cervical discharge/mucous. Every woman has this during different times of the month.

Mam, ovulating, means sign of getting pregnant? How long was the discharge of women?

Please don't use the Comments feature. Scroll down to the Answer this question box.

Ovulation means that a woman is releasing an egg from her ovaries making it possible for her to get pregnant. Very few women know when this occurs, even if they track their ovulation for many months, even years.

I don't understand what you mean by this...

Women have discharge almost every day, but the discharge is different depending on their particular cycle.

Again, if you aren't ready to be a father, don't have sex!
