    Helpp! Period.
I am 13 years old I started my period nearly a year ago. I have reasonably average periods that are quite heavy. I don't want to use tampons. I have had blood clots the size of marbles- is this normal? Also I keep staining my bed sheets and clothes and I always try to avoid school on my period-any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure blood clots are normal. It happens on my period. We have experts here who can shed more light on that though. They'll be along soon.

Since your flow is particularly heavy, have you tried wearing a pad and a tampon at the same time? It took me quite a while to find the sanitary practices to keep my clothes and dignity safe during my period.

Sleeping on a towel or two can help to protect your sheets. Missing school is not good. A visit to a gynecologist, just to make sure everything is okay is a good idea. What does you Mom say?

It's a little too early for a gynecologist. The OP is too young for that unless she is sexually active.

I agree with what SouthAmerica had to say and have nothing more to add.

    Great post SA!
