Shower Hot Water Temperature Standard for Apt.
Please help! My shower in my apt registers from 95 degrees to 101 degrees and the management is insisting that is standard hot water temperature. I know there is a problem because in the past my shower could register 125 degrees. All my attempts at getting this problem solved have been ignored or responded to with distress.
If I could get a standard adequate hot water temperature for an apt. complex shower- I would have arguing power- even in court. Thank you so much.
Not insane, just cold after taking a shower in 32 degree winter weather.:)

Is the decrease in hot water temperature only in the shower or in the sinks as well? If only in the shower, the mixing valve is probably blocked. If everywhere, I don't know of any legal standard, but I'm sure you could call your local housing/health authority. 120 degrees should be about minimum for hot water.

What is going on in the other apartments? Does everyone have 101 degrees? If yes, you all should start complaining, in writing and by phone. If it is just your apartment try comparing the shower temp with the sink faucet. If the sink and the shower are significantly different I'd go with the bad mixing valve. Who will fix your mixing valve, the same management if you complain enough.

I think there are some new regulations out, but the limit is 120 degrees for hand washing. I am going to be looking into this. Our preschool director turned the hot water tank that furnishes hot water for the church kitchen dishwashing down to 120 degrees without telling anybody. I think she should have her arm broke. We already have an anti scald valve set to 110 degrees on the line supplying the sinks in the classroom wing.
