Adding a surname to my name.
Hi, I have just turned 15 and wondered how I would go about adding my sort-of-stepdads surname?

Basically, my mum was with my sisters dad but they were never married. At the time my mum wanted to change my name from my biological dads surname to my stepdads surname but my dad wouldn't allow it so my mum didn't say anything more about the subject. Now 7 years on, I know I can't change my surname but I would like to add my stepdads surname to mine. How would I go about to get it added?

    Thanks.

It requires your father's consent again.

You wait till you are 18, then you may change your name to what you want by filing a name change at the court house

A hypenated surname? Same rules apply. It's still a name change.
