    Afraid of losing girlfriend?
Hello, I am a 23 year old guy currently 'dating' a 19 year girl. The thing is, I'm leaving for my internship for 6 months in 4 weeks. We have been seeing each other for 3 months now, since end of December. From the beginning it hit off perfectly, we really connected and felt at ease with each other. We hang out with each others friends, and tell each other everything. She even told me she loved me, which is a bit soon off course but I told her I love her too. I really feel like I mean it, but it may also be the strong emotions. She doesn't want to be 'officially' dating however, because I am leaving so soon. In the beginning she also held me off a little bit, acted a bit distant because she didn't want to commit to me as I was leaving very soon for 6 months. Last weekend, we had an intense talk about very personal things from me, which I have never told anyone. She just understands me.
Nevertheless, whenever I am not with her ( I see her only 1/2 days every weekend) I feel very afraid of losing her. We text a lot and call and talk online very much. She always ensures me she really likes and loves me and wants to keep in touch when I'm gone and wants to see me after I come back. I still can't help but feel doubts about these things. Why doesn't she want to be my girlfriend ? Why does she not want shout it from the rooftops that she is proud of me and wants to be with me ?
Also her parents told her that she needs someone to be around her all the time, which also bothered me (My line of work requires a lot of traveling) . I just don't know what to do, every time I see her its so perfect and when I don't see her I feel so lost..

Like you said, its only been 3 months and she knows for herself that long distance, and waiting for you to come back in 6 months ain't for her. That's why she isn't as emotionally invested as you are and I think in this one you follow her lead, and stay as cool and controlled as she is. Her feelings are just not the same as yours, even though she SAYS she loves you.

Back up to a safe emotional distance and keep it real. Who knows, maybe she will miss you madly if you are mature about this.

Keep things cool, focus on your work, and cross your fingers.

    Good luck,
