    New water lines
I am moving a washer and dryer from my basement too the next level of the house. I have a couple of questions/concerns. First:can I safely vent my dryer through the ceiling and a few feet across the insulated attic and out of the eve to the outside? Next: what would be an easy, durable, cost effective choice to run new waterlines off the ends of the old galvanized basement lines (the pipes and threads are in pretty good shape) I was thinking maybe PEX? Or a similar type?

The vent will be OK one ceiling up and a few feet out. I think the max is 18'. Be sure the vent has a screen to prevent animals and bugs from getting in! If it only has a flap, make a screen.

1/2" hot/cold PEX is fine for the supply.

Agree with Joypulv, but if you run the dryer vent vertical you'll want to plan on checking it every year for dryer lint build-up, OK?

If dryer lint builds up in the dryer vent it can not only extend the time it takes to dry your clothes (costing you more money), but it could also be a fire hazard. However, if you check the dryer vent on a yearly basis you should be perfectly safe... ;)

    Good luck!

The real question here is, or should be, how are you going to work the drain and drain vent?
