Why must my spouses income be considered when I'm filing an 2555 exclusion?
H&R block says I must use the work sheet and include my wife's income to figure our tax owed. Should we file separately to avoid my excluded foreign income from being included in Line 44 of the 1040?

Are you a visa holder or US citizen or resident.
If you are married, you can file as married filing jointly or separately. On joint return, both of you must report your worldwide income
