Is there an adapter to convert a 3-way lamp to a one-way lamp
Want to avoid "trouble" of replacing the 3-way socket in a lamp with a one-way socket - is there an adapter that does this?

Don't think so, tose switch 1 filiment, the other filiment, both filiments, and off. May not be as difficult as you think to change out the socket.
You could have in a switched outlet, or add a thumb switch to eleminate going through all the positions.

Many thanks for quick reply - by the way, what is a "thumb switch?" Thanks again.

It's the little switchs that are placed on lamp cords sometimes, you roll it around and it turns on and off.

Have you tried just putting a standard bulb in your lamp. You will only get one level of light but you'll experience several clicks to turn it off or on. No adaptor but you can replace the socket and switch for about $3. Leviton R50-10083-16 Turn Knob Lamp Socket, Turn Knob Lamp Socket
