    Can I open another account
We had charge cards, got in over I heads indebt. Enrolled in Amend Credit Counseling
( bills were not late or over limit at time of enrollment).I kept them 6 months they took $571.00 each month to pay bills. They said they could have the interest stopped. I REALLY GOT SCREWED. I found out later companies like this really work for credit card companies ( to make my payments late so they can rack up on late fees and over limit fees). Now I have another company helping me. Which is doing better but some credit card companies just won't work with us. Now one has put a lien on our bank account. My question is if I open another account at a different bank can they find out? This is my husbands SS check and we are in a mess. They aren't suppose to mess with his SS but...
We can't touch it till we go to court next month. Two months with no money!

I have no trust in so called "credit counseling" companies. I enrolled in one also and got screwed. They took payments out of my checking account for about 6 months also, charging me one month's payment for their services. They were supposed to be a non-profit company also--HA! After having them take money out of my account for about 6 months, I was started getting calls from a couple of the credit card companies that were supposed to be getting paid and they weren't receiving payments from the credit counseling company. I obviously quit that company and reported them to the Better Business Bureau. Sorry it happened to you also.

Yeah I got screwed by one of those "non-profits" too.
You are better off filing bankruptcy because it is all handled by attorneys and the courts.
If you file Chapter 13, You pay the attorney fees up front, you are still paying your bills, and payments ARE deducted from your balance. You won't get any new credit cards for a while but that is probably a good thing.

To open a bank account they normally do a credit check, which means it will show up on your credit report, that way anyone looking at your credit report will know you did "something" at that bank. And honestly if they take you back to court and ask you where your bank account is, you have to tell them anyway.

But you can try to keep changing bank accounts every few months and try and stay a step ahead of them
