    No Sound: Dell Optiplex GX270
    Installed Windows XP (SP 3)
No sound at all (no system sounds; no music)
I have verified that my volume is as high as it can go; I have checked BIOS which reflects that sound is ON; I have installed the most current driver listed on dell's support site yet I still have no sound.
I've seen several comments which state that the "chipsets" need to be installed prior to any other drivers, however I have no idea what a chipset is. Further, I don't know what needs to be uninstalled so that I can reinstall it in the correct order. Can someone walk me through?

I have never installed my drivers in any sort of order. I don't think that would be an issue. What was your OS before installing XP?
