I am going to have a hair follicle drug test done next week. I have been taking 3-4 percocet 10mg a day for the past year. I do not currently have a prescription to cover this amount; however I do have a recent prescription for 5 5mg percocets. Do you think I will still fail having a valid prescription of percocets?

Also, I am starting to wonder if this is even going to be a hair test. I have to pay for it and the cost is only $50.00. The reason I say I am having to have a hair test is simply because they told us we would have to take a hair test. In the past I have passed a urine test 2 days after taking medication. Also, I have light brown hair, but I do put bleach highlights in my hair.

Hair follicle drug tests use only the first 3 inches closest to the scalp. The test will show Percocet usage, but will not be able to tell how large your dose is. Nothing can be done to the outside of the hair follicle to change the test, hair dye, bleach, etc. Some people have shaved their heads, but hair that grows anywhere on your body can be used. And $50.00 is too cheap for a hair test, they run $100 to $150. Maybe it's a copay?
