    Deduction property taxes
Can I deduct taxes I have paid on property that belongs to my living mother?

No, you can deduct property taxes on property you own.

Fr_Chuck is correct - in order to deduct property taxes you must have an "owbnership interest" in the property. Since you do not have any ownership interest, you may not deduct the expense. This is the same reason why renters are not allowed to deduct property taxes even if they pay the tax bill directly to the town.
