    Tax- Job related expenses
    Hi
I file married jointly and go with standard deductions.

I wanted to know, last year I went for professional certification course and spend about $500 bucks on mileage and other misc expense extra. . I did not get reimbursed any expenses by my company...

Can I claim these deductions and claim mileage expenses in my taxes?

Why did you take this course? Was it required by your employer?
Even if you are eligible to deduct this expense, it will be employee business expense. You can deduct the expenses that are more than 2% of your adjusted gross income (Form 1040, line 38). So unless you have other itemized deductions, you may not be able to use it.
