Please help!! Dropped phone in lemonade
Yestureday, I dropped my phone in a glass of lemonade for like 5 seconds. I just got the phone in the morning, so I can't tell my parents. I quickly dried the phone and pulled out the battrety and put it in a bowl of rice overnight. But today it turns on but if I try to text it will randomly start typing!! I really need help. I finally talked my parents into getting me a phone, I can't ask them to replace it only after one day!!

Do you have insurance for the phone?

Why not save up your money and replace the phone yourself? Maybe having to work for it yourself will teach you to be more responsible.

How old are you? (This matters for my suggestion as to what to do.)

I just talked to my husband about this (he's a computer/cell phone geek). He wondered if you rinsed off the battery with clear water before you dried it. He also wonders if it has completely dried out yet. If push comes to shove, he said it sounds like your phone has a short circuit (for which there is no cure).

I'm guessing you will have to confess and offer to do extra chores in order to pay for a new phone.

Okay thanks can you ask him if I can just buy a new battery but keep the same phone

He said the problem probably isn't with the battery. The lemonade (liquid) has messed with connections inside the phone. A new battery probably won't fix things. (You can try it, but no guarantees.) You'll need a new phone.

He said, if you want to spend money on a new battery and give that a try, maybe, but yeah, your phone is probably worthless.

Do you have any advice for telling my parents that after one day I already ruined my phone

You want me to call them? I'm a mom and a counselor. Maybe I can soften the blow for them.
