    What does equal next of kin mean
    An insurance company has paid out a sum to me from my late brothers estate an has said the amount paid is my share as equal next of kin - what does this mean that my younger sister has had her share of the proceeds.

    Next of kin

    n. 1) the nearest blood relatives of a person who has died, including the surviving spouse. 2) anyone who would receive a portion of the estate by the laws of descent and distribution if there is no will.;););)
