My hair is naturally a light brown with some lighter tones in it from the sun. It is also curly yet soft not corse lke some tight curls are. 4 months ago I died it dark brown with hints of auburn, last week I decided I wanted more red so I died it a medium auburn color, it didn't work so I waited 24 hours and did it again. Still no change so I waited another 48 hours and tried a lightening for dark hair which turned the roots blond and gradually turne more orange towards the ends. Then I died it a light bronzy brown. Now it's a reddish brown color. Even after all this my hair is healthy and soft. I want a more carmel color but I'm afraid the red won't come out now. Any suggestions?

From what I have heard the best way to get rid of reds and oranges is an ash colour, you can buy an ash brown, this will tone it down a lot! But I think your hair has also suffered enough so maybe you could try a semi permanent colour for a few week and then a permanent again, but try the ash brown, I think this is your best bet.
